Nevada Chapter Oral History Project Released Learn About the History of the Nevada APA
In 2023, the Nevada Chapter of the American Planning Association conducted an oral history of the Chapter with Michael Harper, FAICP. Michael is a longtime member of the APA and one of the Nevada Chapter's founders. This oral history is intended to be a resource for professional planners across Nevada to see how planning has changed in this state. This project is also a fun to look back at the history of the Nevada Chapter and how the organization has played a role in the development and growth of Nevada over the past 50 years.

In 2019, only 36% of APA members held the AICP certification. There are noticeable advantages to obtaining a professional certification like increased earning potential and competitive advantages in the job market. There are also barriers to entry for many qualified planners like annual dues and costs associated with continuing education. Join the APA Women & Planning Division for an informative panel discussion about the advantages & disadvantages of the AICP certification, how to apply for the exams, and some basic test tips for future test takers.
