Great Places in Nevada
Quality planning is behind the places our communities value most. Nevada APA recognizes the neighborhoods, streets, and public spaces that make our communities stronger and bring people together.
Water Street
Without many local businesses, retail, or restaurants, Water Street once drew very little foot traffic to Henderson, Nevada. But in 2000, the introduction of the Downtown Henderson Investment Strategy provided a plan to start bringing life to the street. The strategy had one goal: to bring new businesses and vibrancy to Water Street and the downtown area.
C Street, Virginia City, Nevada
The legacy of the miners and prospectors remains along C Street where wooden-plank walkways, gas street lamps, historic buildings with awnings, and swinging saloon doors harken back to the time of the discovery of the Comstock Lode. In 1859, the discovery transformed the area from an encampment of tents along the slope of Mount Davidson into the "richest place on earth."
John S. Park Neighborhood
Home to some of Las Vegas's most distinguished residential architecture, the 120-acre John S. Park neighborhood offers an old-fashioned, down-home feeling of tranquility within a half mile of the glitz and glamour of the city's adjacent and world renowned Strip.
